Lucky Bay

Lucky Bay beach near Esperance, Western Australia is a 4.9 km long sandy beach backed by bare active sand dunes that extend the length of the beach and further north and up to 1.5 km inland. The beach rock reef continues to parallel the beach about 100 m offshore, with a few gaps resulting in five cuspate beaches-forelands along the shore, and a continuous ‘lagoon’ with none of the forelands reaching the reef. Waves average about 0.5 m at high tide resulting in reflective conditions the entire beach, and calm conditions at low tide. The northern end the beach rejoins the beach rock.
